trip to LA

We hit up a bunch of sites in LA!

The famous Santa Monica Pier! Santa Monica was actually really cute and the beach was huge!
This is part of the gardens at the Getty art museum in LA.
It was a beautiful day!
The Getty has a sculpture garden and really nice grounds. It's situated on top of a hill in LA so you can see everywhere!

A Louis Vuitton store on Rodeo Drive. I think the most impressive part of Rodeo Drive was the art gallery that was selling REAL Picassos, Rembrandts, Monets, etc.

We also went to where the French Dip sandwich was invented. It was delicious! We are now capable tour guides for anyone wanting a two day trip to LA :)

We called it quits at 11 the first night (Sunday). We need to finish it tomorrow because school starts Tuesday and there's chance of rain.

We had sweet corn the other night, Eliza really likes to eat her own little corn cob.

Medical Service Corps Navy Ball

We went to the Medical Service Corps Navy Birthday Ball on Saturday night. All of the corps within the Navy (Medicine, Nurse) have their own Birthday Balls throughout the year. This was the 63rd anniversary of the MSC. The event was held at the Air and Space Museum in Balboa Park. There was a cocktail hour where we walked around the museum, dinner, and a couple admirals spoke during dessert. It was fun!

All of the officers had to wear their dress whites for the event.
The museum was full of planes and helicopters and other exhibits about aviation.

After the ball, we went to a rooftop bar and sat outside to enjoy the view!

We went camping Saturday night. Eliza had a good time. We found a spot along a forest road to camp instead of going to a campground. Saw a moose on the way back down. Lots of lupines in bloom!

Patio Project

Here are a couple pictures of our ongoing patio project. An excavator came and dug out everything on Wednesday, but it's been raining the past 2 days, so we haven't been able to go any further. But now we have a pool in our backyard! We'll start putting in gravel next, and then pavers! P.S. The pictures are backwards.
