The Black Hills

We spent Saturday and Sunday night camping at the Mount Rushmore KOA.  It was like a resort!  Pools, restaurants, horseback riding, mini golf, waterslide...  The weather was PERFECT.  Here's some of what we did!

Eliza had no problem riding this little pony statue at Storybook Island.  We tried to get her to ride a real pony at Old MacDonald's Farm, but she'd rather "just look at them"

It's a little hard to tell from the pictures, but those aren't clouds, it's smoke from wildfires burning on the Crow Indian Reservation just north of us in Montana.  Montana doesn't make national press very often, but they've had the largest amount of acreage burned this summer in the nation.  A little info for you, one of the fires burning now is over 40,000 acres and one of the previous big fires was about 250,000 acres.  Closer to us, an article about the Padlock Ranch in Dayton said they were putting out new fires everyday for two weeks.  Today the smoke is hovering over us again, it smells like a campfire.
