Beuren, Balzholz, & Stuttgart, Germany

From Munich we took a train to Stuttgart then a few smaller trains to Beuren and Balzholz, Germany.  This is where the Shiek family emigrated from in the 1890's.
The Beuren City Hall has been in continuous use since the 1500's.

The Beuren Lutheran Church was built in the 1200's.  Ryan's Great Grandpa Carl was baptized here in 1879.  Carl's parents were married in this church in 1879 and his mother was baptized here in 1849.

Balzholz, Germany.  This is where Ryan's family lived.  He is the first in the Shiek family to return to Balzholz since 1893.
Balzholz is a small farming village.  It was apple harvest season so there was a constant stream of small tractors rumbling past pulling loads of apples.

After Beuren / Balzholz, we returned to Stuttgart.  We ate plates of spaetzle and enjoyed walking around the Royal Wurttemberg palaces.
A beautiful evening sky for our last night in Germany.
